Tonight's Group

This month we're going to demo three popular genealogy software programs: Family Tree Maker, Legacy Family Tree and Roots Magic. Legacy and Roots Magic have free, basic versions too! A genealogy program will sort out all those great grandparents, keep track of information sources, create reports and charts, and much more. Join us as we look at these products and enjoy our usual hands-on, individual-help session. Bring us your brick wall ancestor!
Hope to see you tonight, Denise

Genealogy Group Tomorrow Evening

Tomorrow evening we're going to talk about obituaries. It sounds a little morbid, but obituaries are a great source of family history information. I have gleaned all sorts of clues from obituaries: leading me to additional generations of the family, military records, even an unexpected priest in the family!

Join us as we find the archives that hold our ancestors' obituaries and learn to read between the lines.

Bye for now, Denise

New Group

Our first meeting of the Tarpon Springs Public Library Online Genealogy Research Group was a success! We began with a little 'Genealogy 101' visiting Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest (available at home through the library website), and Cyndi's List. Then we had a well-received, hands-on help session.

Please note: cyndislist.com provides a list of databases that are free at ancestry.com. ;)

Next meeting (September 20, 2010) ~ join us as we explore FamilySearch.org.

Bye for now, Denise
